NHS Midlands and Lancashire can support your integrated care system (ICS) to provide individuals with the very best care.

Our Personalised Healthcare Commissioning service has a team of clinical and administrative staff with ten years’ experience of dealing with continuing healthcare (CHC) retrospective reviews.

These reviews are often more complex and can take longer to complete, taking up resource from within your own ICS teams.

Our team includes registered nurses qualified in adult mental health and general nursing and social workers. We have access to specialist children’s and learning disability nurses and we have significant experience in managing retrospective review requests through to completion.

Our highly skilled administrators ensure the process runs smoothly through each stage, and our business teams provide bespoke reports and business intelligence, highlighting financial risks, and processing payments as required.

We can deliver this service as part of a commissioned end-to-end All Age Continuing Care service, or on a bespoke modular basis to meet the needs of the ICS, which can also be funded case by case if required.

We provide:

  • Triage – receipt, written consent, triage application
  • Information gathering and collation of relevant records – clinical review of documents and determining next steps
  • CHC recommendation including applicant engagement, eligibility decision and integrated care board (ICB) approval
  • CHC Retrospective Review Appeal – process appeal, local resolution meeting, agreeing the outcome with ICB
  • Independent Review panel – administratively record and process Independent Review requests
  • Prepare and represent the case at NHS England
  • Complete any post Independent Review correspondence
  • CHC reimbursement payment processing.

We have experience in service delivery across a large geographical area. Our skilled team can
manage small and large-scale projects for partners.

Our combination of subject matter expertise in clinical, business and financial elements of the retrospective process means we can meet the changing needs of our customers. Our relationship with
NHSEI demonstrates their assurance of the processes we follow and satisfaction with how we manage retrospective cases.
