Background

Medway Community Healthcare (MCH) is an award-winning social enterprise and Community Interest Company established in 2011. With over 1,500 employees, MCH is owned and operated by its staff on behalf of the community and delivers a range of healthcare services.

MCH required a new website to enhance the user experience, delivering a responsive, accessible and modern design. The goal was to effectively communicate the organisation’s key messages, showcase its 60+ community services, and meet statutory information requirements for a diverse group of stakeholders.

Action

Our team of creative and digital experts worked closely with MCH to redesign, rebuild and launch the new website.

Our team employed a six-stage approach, including:

  • stakeholder workshops and analysis of feedback to ensure the new website met user needs
  • design of interactive website concepts for client review and input
  • development of a visually engaging site aligned to MCH branding, ensuring clear signposting to high traffic areas and key messages
  • content review and mapping using a dedicated site mapping tool to audit and reorganise over 600 pages
  • feature-rich build including a searchable Resource Centre with filters and tags for patient leaflets, videos and advice sheets; a searchable Services A-Z; and embed of over 40 externally hosted referral forms
  • integrated Yoast SEO tools to enhance search engine visibility and performance.

Throughout the development, the website underwent rigorous testing and refinement to meet MCH’s objectives. The site was built to comply with the latest WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards, ensuring inclusivity for users.

Impact

Launched in April 2025, the new MCH website offers a seamless user journey across both mobile devices and desktop platforms. Key features include:

  • simple and intuitive navigation
  • robust site-wide search function
  • separate search tools for Resource Centre and Services A-Z
  • flexible content management system (CMS) for ongoing site development
  • enhanced content accessibility and visibility through strategic SEO.

The result is a dynamic, accessible and future-ready website that supports MCH’s commitment to serving its community effectively.

Feedback

“We’re really happy with the new website which provides clear signposting to key information for our stakeholders, as well as being accessible and robust. The site is easy to update ensuring we can keep information current for our patients and communities. We enjoyed working with the AGEM and ML team who approached the project with professionalism, enthusiasm and creativity.”

Hilary Robinson, Head of Marketing and Communications, Medway Community Healthcare
