MLCSU named preferred provider to deliver commissioning support services to Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland CCGs
NHS Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit (MLCSU) has been appointed to provide a range of services on behalf of the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs).
The two contracts will start on 1 April 2017 and cover support services and the personalised commissioning service.
The support services being procured include finance, human resources, organisational development, information governance, equality, inclusion and human rights, healthcare procurement, transformation and service redesign, communications and engagement, and business intelligence. Personalised commissioning services include assessment and review of eligibility for NHS Continuing Healthcare and Funded Nursing Care for Adults, and Continuing Care for Children and Young People. Staff who currently provide these services to the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Clinical Commissioning Groups will be transferred to MLCSU.
Karen English, Managing Director for East Leicestershire and Rutland Clinical Commissioning Group who led on the procurement on behalf of the three CCGs, said: “We are pleased to announce that we have awarded a new contract for our support services and personalised commissioning service to Midlands and Lancashire CSU. We will continue to work closely with the current provider and MLCSU to ensure safe mobilisation and a safe transition of services, whilst ensuring the staff affected are appropriately supported.”
Derek Kitchen, Managing Director of MLCSU, said: “This is great news for our organisation and I’m obviously delighted at the CCGs’ announcement today, which is a strong vote of confidence in the quality of service we provide. I want to reassure everyone that we will be working with the current provider, Arden & Greater East Midlands CSU, and CCG staff to manage a smooth and professional transition.”
