MLCSU continuing healthcare expert invited to help create national guidance

Our Head of Individual Patient Activity Commissioning, Debbie Jackson, has been invited to help with creating national guidance on how health and social care services jointly commission continuing healthcare (CHC) care provision.

She is supporting the NHS CHC Strategic Improvement Programme’s commissioning workstream, set up as a high priority by NHS England and NHS Improvement to support integrated care system partners commissioning from the care market. The workstream group, including representatives from the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services, independent providers and advocates with lived experience, is developing an e-learning module to help clinical commissioning groups, integrated care systems and local authorities.

Debbie said: “It is recognised that this complex arena is fragmented at best, and the desire to work collaboratively is strong across the sector. I’m delighted to be playing a part in creating national guidance aimed at providing fair access to care in a way that ensures better outcomes and experience for patients and carers, and better use of resources.
